New Academic Street Project – RMIT

The New Academic Street (NAS) project has transformed the heart of the city campus by creating new facilities enabling RMIT to deliver better services for students. Over a two year period this project has been undertaken within buildings open for normal business, presenting many logistical challenges.

The project has delivered facilities that really matter to the students – the library, student hall (supporting enrolment and program queries), collaboration spaces and food options – to improve life on campus.

Tours of the NAS precinct will walk the lane-ways of the Academic Street and will include visits to the state of the art Media Precinct (incorporating TV studios), RMIT Connect, Library, Indoor and Outdoor student study and learning spaces and the retail precinct.

Following a brief introduction at the commencement of the tour, smaller tour groups will be formed focusing on either the design, delivery and built form or student services and engagement.

RMIT is located to the north of the CBD (within the free tram zone). Tour participants will need to make their own way to the tour starting point, being the corner of Swanston Street and Monash Road.  To view a map of the tour, please click HERE.
